TDLR proposes amendments to existing Electrician administrative rules
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) proposes amendments to existing rules at 16 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 73, regarding the regulation of electricians. These proposed rule changes are necessary to implement provisions of Senate Bill 1222 adopted by the 80th Legislature providing for licensure of residential appliance installers and residential appliance installation contractors. Provisions of the rules that were adopted to implement grandfathering provisions of the original statute are deleted as they no longer apply. The proposed rule changes were approved and recommended for adoption by the Electrical Safety and Licensing Advisory Board at its meeting on August 16, 2007.
The proposed amendments to 16 TAC, Chapter 73, §§73.10, 73.20, 73.21, 73.22, 73.24, 73.25, 73.40, 73.51, 73.52, 73.80, and 73.90; and new rule 73.54 was filed with the Texas Register on August 31, 2007, and will be published in the September 14, 2007, issue of the Texas Register. TDLR will accept comments on the proposal until October 24, 2007.
TDLR encourages all persons interested in the electricians program to review the proposed rule revisions, which are on the TDLR website at
