The state of Wisconsin requires 18 hours of continuing education every 3 years.
In this four lesson program on basic electrical fundamentals, we will be introducing and studying the general physics, that is the basic natural laws which govern the application in utilization of electricity. This material will serve as the solid foundation on which to build the more advanced concepts that are dealt with in our many other training programs.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
What is Ohm's Law
Understand the Operation of Simple Circuits
Resistance Calculations Power
Understand various electrical hazards
Describe the Fundamentals of Magnetism
TOPICS COVERED:
- Lesson 1: Electron Flow and Ohms Law
Lesson 2: Circuit Elements
Lesson 3: Conductors, Insulators and Safety
Lesson 4: Fundamentals of Magnetism Properties
Electrical power is a dangerous force that requires proper understanding in the workplace. This course defines the requirements for work practices that workers should use to avoid injury from a release of electrical energy when performing tasks involving electrical power. The specific information in this course enables the student to prevent or minimize exposure to all widely recognized electrical hazards as well as to better understand the importance of the relationship between OSHA and NFPA 70E.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Understanding standards for electrical safety
Understand the relationship between OSHA and NFPA 70E
Understand ARC ratings
Creating safe working conditions
Understanding electrical shock hazards
Understand transformers and circuit breakers
Executing a lockout/tagout
Understanding hazards of live parts
General standards on personal protective equipment
TOPICS COVERED:
Introduction to NFPA 70E
Safety Related Work Practices
General Requirements for Electrical Safety Related Work Practices
Electrical Safety Program
Transformer Current Ratings
Energized Electrical Work Permits
Lockout/ Tagout
Working On or Near Live Parts
